To start off with, I'm openly gay but not obviously gay (most people are surprised when they find out), live in the south, I workout at my college gym because it's cheap as hell ($40 for a year), it's small as fuck because nobody uses it which is fabulous.So my recurring experience was this until the seventh occurrence. I workout, start a conversation with random workout person who looks as if they would make a descent spotter, hit things off well. Workout buddy ends up matching my workout schedule like clockwork, end up hanging out off campus, pass each other on campus smile have small talk, go on our merry ways. Get approached by random fitizen chick who is always making eye contact with me who starts flirting with me who by the second time I usually casually throw in a "Yeah my ex boyfriend is an asshole too." Magically within a week workout buddy changes schedule. About 1-3 weeks later pass by workout buddy, smile, say "hey what's up!" No reply just glare. Time to find a new workout buddy. That was two years ago and happened enough times to shut me off towards male fitizens at the gym. I now only use self spotting machines. If anyone tries to start small talk with me I instantly shut them down, anybody makes eye contact with me gets a nasty glare, any cruising closeted guy on top floor dressing room during bottom floor cleaning time gets a horrific scolding. But for anyone else outside of gym I'm pretty damn friendly!Wondering if anyone else has had similar or just in general shitty experiences.
