Meeting other gays question

I live like an hour away from Houston... I love going to clubs when I have my friends in toe, but they're all straight women. I wanna make more gay friends to hang out with and go to clubs etc but not really sure how? Or where? Is it like even socially acceptable to go to a club alone and just you know mingle? Idk. advice pls!
