19/m. Curious but very afraid.

Hello. I am a 19 year old guy from NYC that is very curious... specifically I'd like to try oral (giving). The problem is that I am deathly afraid of STI/STD. I do know that condoms are an option but even those are not 100% safe, and from what I have read online they seem to make the entire experience worthles. I don't want to potentially catch something for the rest of my life because of a fantasy.. I really just don't even know what to do... any advice?
