Having trouble.

First time posting. I have recently come to realize that i am gay after years of battling if i am or if it was just a "phase", but i don't know how to tell my family. See what scares me is I don't know how they will react. I wasn't raised in some crazy up bringing but I didn't have the best childhood so I have no idea how they will react. So I am wondering if there is some "tips and tricks" to coming out to your family that I am not aware of?
