For someone who’s probably gay & now trying to make sense of their orientation, How do you tell if the attraction to the opposite gender is genuine?

Like how there are people who dated the opposite gender and might even Been married to them through their 20’s and realized they were gay at 30. How does someone struggling with their identity figure out if they are truely attracted to the opposite gender vs. they are actually gay.
