Denial against the Mexican gay men.

I live in a border town in New Mexico. Here the Mexican culture is strong, meaning machismo runs rapent here. I am an open gay man but find it hard, for 1) my parents don't like that I am gay, 2) small towns = small minds , 3) hard to trust people especially straight men, 4)religion!!! & 5) ALOT of closet cases!! I consider myself masculine 100%. I've been lucky to find people that support me. The only thing that upsets me though is that most men here, especially amongst gay Mexican men is that instead of trying to be happy and accepting of themselves and just be free, they bow down to the normality of heterosexuality. Let's pretend to be straight and have kids and when the wife is away for a few days, mess around on the DL with another man but in another town. I know quite several that are gay & it gets me mad knowing that they'll live a life of secrecy their entire lives pretending to be someone they are not. I am glad í am out but the dating pool sucks because of people like these "men" who are scared. Would love to move to a bigger city with more open minds.
