Red Cross is homophobic
Every year, students can sign up to donate blood for the Red Cross in my high school. I wanted to feel like a hero so I signed up, and soon enough, it was the day of. Before they take your blood, they ask you a bunch of questions, like "Do you have HIV/AIDS," things like that. But, one of the questions was "Have you had sexual contact with another male in the past 12 months?" I answered no, but I was puzzled and asked the woman why it mattered. She simply said you could not donate blood if you answered yes. I did my research and learned that actually, they changed the rule. It used to be if you EVER had sexual contact with another male, you could not donate. This is basically homophobia because we KNOW that gay and straight people can get AIDS or HIV just as easily and even if it's in your blood, they can test for it. There is no reason for them to maintain this rule if we have scientific facts that prove gay people are not any less healthy than straight people.
