Hi. I lurk here a lot. Some of you know me, while some of you probably don't. If you're in the later category, I'm a gay guy strongly considering joining a monastic order. I'm pretty outspoken in my support of LGBT equality in the Church, but I'm worried that by refusing a sexual relationship, I'm avoiding the personal criticism that comes with the territory of being gay. Sure, people may loudly disagree with my position, but that's not quite the same as being criticized for being in a gay relationship. Maybe this is silly, but I almost feel like I'm selling out in order to avoid the scorn or something.
