Do clubs like Babylon in "Queer As Folk" really exist?

You know, bumping real techno (not Top 40), rampant substance usage, scantily clad go-go boys. Just curious, cos it seems like true nightclubs don't really exist amid the myriad bars, at least in the U.S.
