What are the most culturally-defining, impactful, historically significant books/movies/documentaries for the gay community?

I posted this in r/askgaybros, but many of the responses I got were either silly, superficial titles, or just lists of "here are a bunch of random movies I like with a gay person in it". What would be considered the ultimate Canon of "gay classics"?
