Is my friend a closeted gay?

Hey I am a closeted gay senior in high school and I think a friend of mine is closeted. To be honest I like him. He and I do somewhat gay things with each other such as hold hands, put our arms around each other, play with his hair, we have come extremely close to kissing etc. I think that he may like men but how could I possibly tell for sure? I don't want to offend him by just asking him straight up.
