Moving to Houston in May or June, looking to live somewhere downtown for cheap.

On a positive note, I don't mind living in the hood, although it's not my preference, obviously. Any leads or advice will be met with Karma. I'm a recovering alcoholic, so I'd like to avoid bar districts if at all possible, and bonus points if the area is gay-friendly. Thanks! I'm really excited to move down there! : 3
