Highlights from Easter morning in Kawasaki, Japan. There was something about saying "He has risen" while watching people celebrate, worship, and pray to penis statues on Easter that was... fulfilling?In all seriousness, it was a really fun festival. The proceeds from items sold benefit HIV research and education. The shrine where it is held is a place where people pray for fertility and protection from STI's. If you want to take a trip to Japan to see cherry blossoms in spring AND give some money to a good cause, the Kanamara Matsuri is a good place to stop. It's on the first Sunday in April.
