My First Gay Pride Experience (Los Angeles) and How I found a Unicorn.
So I want to share my first gay pride experience....You know that "love" is in the air when you see new profiles on Grindr and a lot of them say "Visiting, Visitor, or Here for Pride." Tindr was no exception as well. I did get a few messages here and there, and some even wanted bareback. This is what went on as far as the virtual world. And because I'm a good boy, I didn't tap any of them.Today (Sunday) I went to West Hollywood where the pride was held. I drove there, and the surrounding roads were closed/barricaded so that it would be safer for the crowd. And this meant that I had to park farther and walk more. I was wearing sneakers, but man it was like a hike with the distance. Nonetheless, that became my workout for today. When I got to WeHo... boy did it stink. Literally. The sidewalks smelt like puke and piss. In fact, I saw one guy puked on the sidewalk -- on a Sunday in broad daylight. Well, I couldn't blame them. There was overcrowding and I'm pretty sure them running to the closest bathroom would be a challenge. As far as the bars are concerned... all I could say is ugh. They were overcrowded and over-capacity. The lines were long and you'd probably wait half an hour to get in if you didn't arrive early. And most (if not all) bars have at least $10 cover. As for the types of people you see... pretty much the entire spectrum. You see scantily clad guys. You see guys who shouldn't be scantily clad. Queens. Queers. And everything in between.Needless to say, I didn't stay too long. I was in the area for about an hour (excluding my walk/hike). I like the idea that there's pride gathering in my city. However, I'm not a fan of being in a huge crowd, so the experience was very lacking and disappointing for me.Nonetheless, Happy Pride to Everyone!Oh, and about that unicorn...
